Now Viewing:Spring Fling 2004

Charter 21’s recipe for success

By R.J. “Cowboy” Carter

Soiree a-la Boozefighter

1 gorgeous Sierra day

3 nervous Boozefighters

4 horrified Prospects

400 lbs of chicken

2 live bands

500 people

13 venders

20 different clubs

Heat day to 75 degrees F. combine and stir all ingredients together in a Green-n-White Roadhouse and let simmer for 5 hours. Add liberal amounts of beer and brown liquor. Sprinkle in a few local celebrities as needed. When almost done top mixture with an outrageous off the hook raffle and garnish with brotherhood.

Our official “Spring Fling” article (along with pictures) well be done by Bill Hayes and be posted sometime near the end of April, but in the meantime…. To all the various clubs, independent riders and my brother Boozefighters…Many, many thanks. Our Charter 21’s “Spring Fling” and coming out party last Saturday March 27th was far bigger than anyone could have ever predicted or imagined. The out-pour of support and brotherhood was beyond belief…. Boozefighter history was truly made that day in many different ways, for instance…After tallying the receipts “Rod” the owner of P.J.’s Roadhouse, called me to say thanks and that according to his records in the 5 hours during the Boozefighters event he netted the most profit in the Roadhouse’s history for one day…Not bad considering P.J.’s has been in existence since the mid 40’s.  For almost 60 years has hosted all manner of motorcycle club runs and events, with never more than 250 people ever showing up for any single event. At best guess ours was estimated at close to 500 people, with bikes as far as the eye could see…Over twenty different clubs showed up that day with numerous members in each, not just a token few like most runs. From start to finish our “Spring Fling” couldn’t have possibly went better. No crashes, no fights, no problems with the law, no hassles of any kind. It was a great maiden voyage and a fantastic beginning for our new Charter, Thanks again to everyone involved and especially the wives and girlfriends of our Charter who tirelessly toiled all day…
